Sriprai (Sonya) Palahicky

MTAA Member – Registered Massage Therapist (RMT),
Thai Massage Therapist & Instructor,
Certified Myofascial Cupping Therapist (CCT)

In 2010, Sonya travelled to Laos and Thailand to visit her parents. She began her Thai massage studies at the Watpo Thai Traditional Massage School, graduated from there in 2011 and received certification as a Thai Massage Therapist from the renowned Department of Skills Development, Government of Thailand. She then travelled to Chiangmai, Thailand to study the northern ancient technique of Thai massage, known as “Thai Yoga Massage”.

In Chiangmai, Sonya trained with some of Thailand’s foremost Thai Massage masters, including the late Chongkol Settakorn at the International Training Massage School, and completed a Thai massage instructor program (CAPT) in 2012. She continued her practice with master healer and teacher, Pichest Boonthumme, whose style she now emulates.

Sonya is originally from Bangkok, Thailand and it was obvious from an early age that she had an affinity for Thai massage, practicing on her mother all of the time. As a 6 year old child, Sonya did not think to label it as ‘Thai Massage’ because it has been part of her family’s culture for many generations. Sonya strives to keep growing both personally and professionally. She is currently enrolled in the Registered Massage Therapy 2200 Hour Program at MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Edmonton, Alberta.

Sriprai was excellent in tailoring the treatment as required. After coming back from Thailand and receiving Thai style messages there, I was looking forward to trying one with Sriprai given her training and experience. I came out of the therapy session very relaxed and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a quality Thai style massage that was better than the Thai style massages that I received in Thailand! The best aspect I found was because of her knowledge of western style massage therapies as well as her Thai experience, she was able to draw on the best aspects of each therapy to deliver an excellent treatment. I will definitely be returning here again!October 2014

I have had two massages now from Sonya at Community Wellness. I can only say great things about this Therapy Centre! I had an amazing experience and Sonya did a fantastic job on my neck and hips. As a photographer I carry a lot of heavy equipment and sit at a desk a lot so my body really appreciates a good strong massage. The atmosphere is also super relaxing and I felt very pampered in my time there. I would highly recommend Community Wellness to anyone!September 2014

Sonya is the best. I won’t go anywhere else to actually get my back fixed. She has the knowledge (and strength!) to correctly identify problem areas and properly remedy them. The business idea is great, the place is nice, and the staff is friendly. Keep up the good work and I’ll definitely be a regular.

I like the ambiance of this place and Sonya gave me an incredible massage. I’ve been to a ton of massage places in the past, so I can certainly appreciate the difference between an average massage and a great one. I’ll be a repeat customer for sure.

I would like to share my experience with Sonya’s outstanding intuition and abilities with her Thai massage training. I had such an amazing service , I was treated to wonderful foot massage to start and to relax me into the massage. She is tune with keeping it a combination of gentle therapy along with a through and through deep connective tissue and tendon healing.I began to see the effects the massage had on my chronic pain and uplifted sense of well being more each day after the service, it really made a difference. I appreciated her care and kindness and professional manner. In addition, she has not overlooked any attention to cleanliness , peacefulness and welcoming environment to those who come into her space . I felt so comfortable and pleased to have had the time her.August 2012

I am a busy working Mom who never has any time to pamper myself. It’s been a really long time since I’ve had a massage and Sonya was recommended to me because of her knowledge of Reflexology and Thai Therapeutic Massage. Sonya came to my home, and set up a very comfortable arrangement so that I could relax and enjoy the Thai reflexology massage on my legs and feet. 1 ½ years ago, I severely injured my ankle where I ripped all 6 ligaments. I was thrilled when she massaged my legs and ankle, as I haven’t felt this well in a very long time. After one week, my ankle still does not hurt when I walk or do strenuous activities. Sonya is extremely professional, polite, courteous and kind. These qualities transcend well into her work, as you can tell she truly cares about a person and how they are feelings. She take her skills very seriously, telling as she goes what she is doing and what part of the body the Reflexology is impacting and why. I would highly recommend her services to anyone, as she is extremely gifted in what she does and it is a pure pleasure being not only pampered, but at an extremely reasonable cost as well. There have been many times that I have received massages, and always came away feeling slightly “ripped off” as it wasn’t what I expected it to be. Sonya ensures an absolutely relaxing atmosphere and her Therapeutic Massage is the best that I have ever experienced. It is well worth booking your appointment with her, as you will definitely NOT be disappointed. In fact, your experience will be quite the opposite. Thanks for the great experience, sonya! You are awesome!
